I am getting closer and closer to college each passing day. I’m very excited, but kind of sad at the same time. I know that there are some people, that are my friends now, I will never see again. That didn’t dawn on me until my senior year of high school is almost over. In the beginning I never said I was going to miss high school but at the same time I didn’t say I wasn’t.

So I have my schedule for the fall semester of college and I’m pretty happy. The only thing I am complaining about is my minors. I am double minoring in Japanese and Chinese, but both first year language classes are at the EXACT same time, so I am taking Japanese first and then I’ll take Chinese.

So yeah this is my summer, getting ready for college. I have been really obsessed with tennis this year. I don’t know what it is, ever since Serena won the Australian Open I have been watching as much tennis as possible. Wimbledon is on and that’s all I have been watching. Other than tennis I have been a spectator of soccer as always. USA beat Mexico 2-1 for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, which is always nice.

Well other than that, that’s it. I’m excited about Utada Hikaru’s new single Kiss & Cry. So I have to make sure I pre-order it so I can get it right when it comes out.

The Everlasting StreamWalt Harrington

Walt Harrington….A great author and I can say that after hearing of him for the first time, listen to him for an hour, and read the first chapter of his latest book “The Everlasting Stream.” Today I went to the public library and I attended my very first author apperance if you will. I enjoyed it a lot. The author was, as I said before, Walt Harrington. Everything this man said made sense to me and I knew afterwards that I would enjoy his writings. This man is not only an awesome writer but the head of the Journalism department at Univeristy of Illinois Urbana-Champaign! Can you say wow? I can!

Well on Mr. Harrington. This book, “The Everlasting Stream” is a story on a chapter in his life in which he became to understand the meaning of life better. The way he came about this idea of life was in the most unpredictiable way: rabbit hunting with his father-in-law and his friends (whom are all African-American) in Glagslow, Kentucky. I bet that was the last thing on your mind, me too. I don’t want to spoil anything on this book, I recommend it to anyone, please buy, you could get it just about anywhere. It’s the cheapest at Amazon.com!

Well I finally paid my housing and some other deposit for Illinois State Univeristy. I filled out my FAFSA as well, but everytime I finish something there just seems to be more. I hope I will get this all done and go to college! Especially after I paid over $400 on deposits, that’s a lot of money! Now they want to double check something on my financial status, I don’t know what that is about, maybe they think I’m lying.

Well there is so much NOT going on. I’m just ready to graduate high school, go to college, and of course move to Japan. I still want to transfer to Indiana University because they have a much larger Japanese program than ISU. I’ve been speaking with the professor at ISU about the program there and it doesn’t seem like there are any plans to expand it. The professor at ISU studied Japanese at Indiana so maybe he’ll be able to help me with some decisions on what and how to go about this. I am so determined to learn this language, I want to go beyond just learning “enough” to make it around.

Well this is just a small update, don’t have time for much, more to come. Well I just got my senior pictures back and I really like them.

I’ve been looking more and more into the JET program and I really want to do it. I want some opinions on it, what do you think, should I take this step.

To be continued…

Well not much is going on today except for me it’s a snow day! Yeah, happy for the day. Anyway, as you can see my topic is called UTADA Net becuase there is a website I visit often that is about my favorite Japanese artist Utada Hikaru. This is perhaps the biggest US fansite or of the biggest. Now the owner of this site has recently been having financial problems and needs as much help as possible. I don’t like to ask for me, but I’m asking anyone if they could donate anything at all it would be really appreciated. Here are some links:

So I’ve finally saw a full-frontal shot of the iPhone…wow. It looks really nice and there are a lot of features. The only problem is, is that the 31 second battery life just doesn’t work for me as well as, I’m sure, many other people. I never really cared about how my phone looks, just as long as it works. I was just impressed by the iPhone except for its…well read above.  Well one last time I would like to ask you to please, if you can, donate to UTADA Net, any amount would work, thank you.

I have no idea why I took that long absence, I really wasn’t doing anyting important I was just probably lazy. Well out cell died in out computer so we had to get a new one…it works now. So I know that I’m not goingt to be in college yet until fall 2007, but I have been looking at what I want to do after college. As you all know, or at least I think, I desire to reside in Japan. I think I want to go through the JET program right out of college. It would be great to be a english teacher in Japan. After that my Japanese work permit still works for two more years and I don’t know the minimum requirements in Japan to become a english teacher, I want to make it permanet.

Well my summer Japanese trip is still pending, everything isn’t worked out yet, but hopeful soon it will be. Four more months of high school and I am off…

So I am almost done with my college stuff and I actually have started looking at my options for studying abroad in Japan. We can go to Tokyo, Osaka, or Kyoto I think it was. I really want to go to Tokyo, but I also want to explore the other options.

So Utada Hikaru’s new single, Flavor of Life, is coming out pretty soon. I got a chance to hear a little bit of it and I liked it a lot.

Today was funny U of I (University of Illinois) issued a letter today to counselors only, but they were kind enough to share with us seniors. Well they said that if some one where to drop a class from their schedule after someone has applied and been accepted they will revoke their acceptance becuase you have to get their permission. Well there goes about 5 of my friends first choice college. They were accepted but dropped a class, well good luck to them. As for me, my mom wanted my to apply there but I didn’t want to, I don’t know why, just didn’t want to.

Well I’ll be back with more. From the bi-racial guy who loves Japan, out!

Carl

Hey everyone who is reading this, I’m Carl just to give you an introduction and I am just going to make this my personal blog. I also use other community sites, but I think I would like to make this my main source for blogging, you find a lot of interesting things and people here.

Anyway, like I said my name is Carl. I am obssesed with Japan. Why you ask? I can’t answer that myself, it was like I was born with such an attachment, but no matter how I came to love this country and everything about it, it still doesn’t take away any of my liking for it.

So today I was in school, I’m a senior in high school (college in fall), and I was really getting annoyed with EVERYTHING around me, I just wanted to walk out. At first I began to think it was just school, but then I noticed that it was this country. Don’t get me wrong, I love The United States of America, but I so long for Japan! I’ve decided, after a lot of pondering, that I would like to move to Japan. In the beginning I decided I’ll visit a few times in life, but not I want to live there, among it’s people.

Well after reading this, I’m sure you assumed that I love Japan. Well, nothing else today except Calculus sucked.

Your first rambling from the Bi-racial guy obssesed with Japan…
